Barbara Schertel graduated from the London Metropolitan University with a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Furniture Restoration and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Conservation in 2004. In 2006, she completed a Masters of Art (MA) in Furniture Conservation at the joint program of the Royal College of Art and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. As part of her MA training she undertook a summer internship at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Currently she is the advanced fellow in contemporary art in the conservation department of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and is conducting a survey of the three-dimensional architecture and design collection. She is currently working as a freelance conservator of Modern Art, Architecture and Design in Berlin, Germany.
